Meet the Doctor

Dr. Becky Shelton grew up in Gwinnett County.  At the age of 18 she joined the United States Air Force and served nine years working in aviation electronics on B52 and RF-4c aircraft.  Duty stations included Mississippi, Texas, England, Italy, Germany, and finally Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia.  She was honorably discharged in August 1982.

During her years in the Air Force she took college classes at night as her duties permitted.  She finished her Bachelor of Business Administration degree magna cum laude at Georgia College in 1987.

While stationed at Robins Air Force Base, she became very involved in working with local animal shelters and volunteering at local veterinarian offices.  She applied to and was accepted to the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990 and graduated in 1994.

A client from the University of Georgia teaching hospital influenced her to locate in the North Georgia Mountains.  After working for a local clinic for several years, she decided to try bringing the Doctor to the patient.  Shelton Mobile Veterinary Service began in January 1998, working out of the trunk of her car during the day and then working the over night shifts at an animal emergency clinic in Atlanta.

In October 2000, Dr. Shelton purchased her 24 foot, state of the art, mobile clinic.  Now, two hundred thousand miles later, she has treated several thousand patients.  Also, in July 2001 she was featured on Animal Planet as the vet in charge of "Trixie - The Championship Frisbee Dog".  Her love for animals is unquestionable and she continues to be committed to providing outstanding, compassionate care to every client and patient.
